About the Role
The Senior Controller will play a critical role in overseeing KMK’s global financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This hands-on leadership role reports directly to the Founder & CEO and will work closely with the existing part-time (P/T) Controller. The position can be either full-time or part-time and may be based in the U.S. or India.
We’re seeking an experienced finance professional who combines strong accounting expertise with operational acumen and the ability to manage end-to-end financial processes in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting
Manage and reconcile company books monthly, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Oversee and maintain QuickBooks, ensuring integrity and consistency of financial data.
Maintain oversight of accounts payable/receivable, expense management, and cash flow.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations to leadership on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
Compliance & Operations
- Oversee payroll processing and coordinate with Paylocity, ensuring compliance with all payroll tax obligations.
- Liaise with the IRS, state tax agencies, auditors, external tax accountants, and select vendors to ensure timely filings and compliance.
- Assist with annual audits and financial reviews as needed.
- Provide ad hoc operational and administrative support in a collaborative, small-office environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA qualification preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, ideally in a professional services or consulting environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, state and federal tax compliance, and payroll management.
- Proficient in QuickBooks (QB) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and advanced formulas).
- Experience with Deltek or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with limited supervision.
